Well, I think they’re cool...
A similar pickup without the shell is selling on eBay for close to $100.
The painting is an actual oil painting, not a print. Kinda cliché, but it was only a buck or two.
And when was the last time you saw a model of a Saturn Sky?

I like the truck a lot, very nice. The painting a Claude Monet style is cool too, I’d call it garage art. You find the coolest shit!

It was made by Maisto, so I suspect it was an unusual retail model. Like GM, they probably had high hopes for this unusual car, thinking it would be an American Miata, but then reality set in
Speaking of, when at the grocery store the other day I was looking at the selection of $5.99 model cars. There were the usual models of Ferraris, Lamborghinis, FD RX-7s, Alfa Romeos, etc. - sexy stuff. The next one stopped me in my tracks - a beige 2003 ish Toyota Corolla. WTF? What kid dreams about that? I guess it might be great if they wanted to play with a model of the same hand-me-down car that their mother drove in high school...

I am insanely jealous. I have literally never found one single good diecast in any of the Goodwill’s around here. They are completely worthless for toy collecting. We have a bunch of them too.

I don’t often find die cast stuff, but when I do its usually pretty beat up and missing pieces. I do grab Hot Wheels and Matchbox vehicles , but it’s mostly newer stuff. It takes some digging because the small items usually fall to the bottom of the bins. Scrounging up Lego is even harder...

There are really no toys to speak of at any of our Goodwills. Save for some baby toys that are usually missing pieces.

Is that a 1/18 scale Saturn Sky?

Yup. Made by Maisto. Probably 1/24th though.

I don’t even bother looking at the toy section. No matter the store it’s always a complete mess, usually used as a play area for the kids whilst mom is shopping. Everything is strewn about and usually broken. The only time I’ve seen any decent die casts they were in a glass display case, but those are few and far between (as are my trips to a regular thrift store - I’m an outlet junkie, always on the hunt for something interesting and unique)

Go search shopgoodwill.com for die cast. Or anything else interesting.

The prices on that site are a little on the high side, especially the shipping charges. I enjoy digging around at the outlet for the sport of it since you never know what you’re going to stumble upon. It’s always an adventure.
